New Zealand’s leading current affairs magazine, the New Zealand Listener, is seeking an exceptional journalist to be its Chief Sub-editor.
The Listener, which has been at the leading edge of current affairs and investigative reporting for almost 80 years, prides itself on the quality of its journalism. The primary responsibility of the Chief Sub-editor is to maintain that high level of quality and performance. This role requires a broad knowledge of current affairs and a strong interest in New Zealand’s political and cultural environment.
The Listener works to tight deadlines and it is the Chief Sub-editor’s responsibility to manage copy and page flow to ensure all deadlines are met. Familiarity with InDesign or InCopy would be an advantage.
The Chief Sub-editor is also expected to be a strong contributor to the Listener management team. This is a rare opportunity, with the incumbent Chief Sub-editor retiring and off to do some extended travelling, to join one of the country’s most prestigious and well-read magazines. This position is based in our central Auckland office. Please apply today with your CV and cover letter.
